Adrianna TS#1
This past Tuesday I met with my tutee, Khalid. We got to know each other a bit by asking each other many questions, including those found in the "Tutoring Guidelines" handout. Khalid told me what his group levels are for the various CIES classes that he is taking. I learned that he is 19 years old and has been studying at CIES for 5 months now. He considers Saudi Arabia his home, and is currently here thanks to an accounting scholarship. Once he is finished with his time at FSU, he will go back to Saudi Arabia where he will work as an accountant. Khalid struggles the most with reading and speaking English, but he considers writing English as manageable. During our tutoring sessions he wants me to focus heavily on English grammar, and he said that worksheets, as well as repetition by writing are most helpful to him. Hopefully, throughout the remainder of our tutoring sessions I will learn more about Saudi Arabian culture and he will do the same with regard to American culture. I look forward to meeting with him again this coming Monday!
