Class: Speaking Group 4A
Teacher: Olivia James
The students were working on outlines for speeches that must persuade or inform the audience on a topic that they came up with from a conflict or past challenge in their life. A few of the students expressed the same conflicts about fathers and older brothers being very traditional. They seem to not want the students to be modern or adventurous. I helped a student named Yugi Zhang with finding a few articles on repairing relationships with parents. We also discussed her conflict and came up with solutions on how to improve her situation. The students will present their speeches next week. I'm excited for Yugi's presentation. I learned a lot in terms of interaction with the students from Professor James. She really breaks down the information for them and helps them understand empathy, feelings, emotions, and universal human needs.
