Location: CIES Conference room
Topic/Skill: Introduction to each other and Simple Present Tense

Today I met Yunjia and she is very kind and intelligent. She is from China and speaks Chinese, English, and Korean. She's been living in the US for about a month and a half. She lives with her fiancé who's a music student at Florida State. Yunjia loves to play piano! She taught piano in China for about seven years. She also enjoys drawing, yoga, and swimming. She likes Tallahassee because of its country attributes that includes the green trees and the random mix of hills. She's studying English because its a skill and she feels she has to be able to speak it. She enjoys learning English because she likes to know what native speakers are saying and she wants to be able to reply well. One thing she doesn't enjoy about learning English is the spelling of words and the vocabulary. She doesn't speak English often outside of class but uses English in the school setting and to self study. One of her long term goals is to prepare for the post graduate exam. After we completed getting to know each other better we went over the simple present tense. Together we played a game based upon learning the simple present tense and then we completed two worksheets. She is open to learning whatever I want to teach her. She also believes our lessons together will help her speak better English overall.
