Adrianna TS#10
For this session, my tutee Renata and I discussed some basic small talk topics that are typical in American culture. I told her that people generally ask about the weather, family, work, or upcoming plans during a small talk conversation. When I told her about the "hi, how are you?" element of American conversation she found it to be a bit strange, since "how are you?" is generally a rhetorical question in that context. We practiced some basic small talk scenarios with each other, and I corrected her pronunciation errors. She enjoyed learning about American small talk and asked that I come up with different lessons related to American culture for our future tutoring sessions.
