Tutoring Session #10
During this session with Cassie, we discussed that we would cover the past perfect tense which she was struggling with. Although she understood how and when to use it in writing, she often would make mistakes while speaking. I explained that you need "had" + past participle and it should be used when an action finished before another past action, an action happened before a specific time in the past, an action started and continued in a certain time in the past, cause and effect and emphasis on an activity in the past. These seemed like very abstract uses, so we decided to do some practice conversation. I asked her questions about when she lived in Taiwan and corrected her on her beautiful mistakes. By the end of the session, she seemed to have a better grasp of the tense.
