For this session, my tutee Renata and I practiced her listening skills. She had previously told me about some American artists that she listens to including Beyonce and Jason Mraz. Before the session, I chose a song from each artist and found the lyrics online. Then, I found youtube videos for both songs with the correct lyrics. I had her listen to the videos first without looking at the lyrics. Once each video ended I had her verbally summarize the songs. The second time around, I let her view the lyrics while listening to the songs. This second time gave her the opportunity to ask me more questions about particular words. She found this lesson quite helpful, and I encouraged her to take time out of her day when not at school to practice the same lesson with other songs.
